Just because..

he loves me!

The other day when I got home from work Dustin was at my door step with a bag in his hand and got me this little picture, which is now hanging on my wall above my bed, just because he saw the monkey and it made him think of me because that is my favorite animal. It was so sweet!

The Bow Tie Delight

(before)

Last night we (Dustin) decided to make dinner again. Dustin boiled chicken breasts and spinach with a little bit of lemon pepper. Then, bow tie noodles and a pinch of parmesian were added to the mix. As you can see from the before and after pictures we really liked it.

A moment of truth: I think we might have a little bit of an obsession with food because technically this was our dessert as we had eaten our left over Barro's pizza and wings a few hours earlier. Yum!

Dinner for two

Tonight me and my lovely, beautiful lady made a fantastic 5 star meal that consists of broccoli, cheese, chicken, and bow tie pasta. Everything was going fine and the meal was good untill i decided to get crazy and throw some hot sauce into the mix! I guess that half a bottle of hot sauce in a medium size bowl does not mix to well, lol.

For the Love of Peanut Butter

Last night after work we (Dustin & I) decided to make peanut butter rolls; which are delicious!! Hehe. (Unlike Dustin, I am not a big cook so this is the first real treat I have really ever made) Needless to say, in the process of making the peanut butter balls we made a huge mess and used the powdered sugar and melted chocolate as war face paint... I never knew cooking could be so much fun.

One thing I realized that when you take the time to make something yourself, by the time it is complete you are not really in the mood to even try your finished product. So, once we were done cleaning up the disastrous kitchen and washing all the ingredients off of one another we found ourselves just sitting on the kitchen floor for about an hour facing each other and exchanging funny faces to try to make the other laugh. As ridiculous as it may sound it was cute and hilarious. Then for dinner we made grilled cheese w/turkey sandwiches and cheddar broccoli soup. YUM!
All in all it was an fun-filled night and we plan to try a new recipe this weekend. Wish us luck!!

Directions:

To start, line a cookie sheet with wax paper and set aside. Mix 1 1/2 cups peanut butter, 6 cups powdered sugar, 1 cup butter, and 1/2 tsp. vanilla together (dough will be slightly dry).

(mixing all the ingredients together in a bowl in pj's make-upless)

Next, roll the dough into 1 inch balls and place on the cookie sheet. Chill in the freezer for about 30 minutes.

(rolled peanut butter balls and yes we made one giant one for fun)

Place 4 cups of chocolate chips into a bowl and microwave for 1 minute. Stir and heat again for 30 seconds. Do not over heat the chocolate as it will keep its shape until stirred. Once the chocolate is smooth, leave it on the counter until it is warm, but not hot.

(melted chocolate)

Last, you will drop the dough into the chocolate; roll it to cover then using a spoon drop it back on the wax paper. Repeat with all balls; return to the freezer for 1 hour then store in an air tight container in the fridge until ready to serve.

From Long Beach, CA to Ensanada, Mexico

I just got back from a 3 day cruise that went from Long Beach, CA to Ensanada, Mexico and it was a blast. I went with a good friend of mine, Natalie. We drove up to Long Beach on New Year's Day and stayed the night at the Hilton and ate dinner on the haunted Queen Mary Ship/hotel/resturaunt. The next day we borded our cruise ship (Carnival Paradise) and off into the ocean we went. On the 3rd we were able to get off and explore Mexico for a few hours; in which I got lost and saw a really poor portion of the city. We returned to Long Beach and drove home on January 5th. I am proud to say I did not get sea sick although when we first took off and started moving the rocking of the ship almost got to me. One weird feeling that I experienced was after I got off the ship and was home I still felt like I was on the boat and it was rocking. That made me more sick than the actual rocking when I was on the ship. However, I am glad to say that I no longer feel the rocking of the boat!

This was my first cruise and I was definately impressed with everything overall: the service, the deck, the food, the entertainment, the gym, the casino & night life, and the people.

Service: The staff was great and always available, the room was cleaned twice a day and cute little towel animals were left on the bed each day.

Deck: Hot Tubs, Swimming Pool, Bar, Slide, Beautiful Ocean View, Mini Golf, Fresh Air.

Food: The best of the best! Shrimp, Lobster, Chicken, Fish, Fresh Fruits & Veggies, 24 hour availability.

Entertainment: Each night there were mini vegas/broadway like shows about 1 hour long and they were very entertaining. Lots of talent! Also, there was a comedy show each night which had me laughing histerically. Throughout the ship there were many different live performers that sang, too.

Gym: Day Spa, Sauna, Steam Room, Cardio, Free Weights, Machines, Seminars, Training, Group Classes.
Casino & Night Life: The casino was open all night and a great way to spend time and meet people. The clubs were a blast with a DJ and great music. Dancing was wonderful and the people were all friendly.

People: It was not only the entire staff on the ship that made my cruise amazing, but also the other people traveling too. Everyone was very friendly and open for conversation. I met a lot of really great people and that was really cool.

My time was definately well spent and it was worth every penny! I think that a 3 day cruise is the perfect length for your fist time as you do not know what to expect and it gives you long enough to enjoy your time without feeling like you were way unprepaired for the trip. I would love to take another cruise to somewhere tropical one day.
